Convection is that method of heat transfer in which the heat is carried from one place to another by actual movement of heated matter.

This process can occur only in fluids. If the heated matter is forced to move by some agent (like a fan) then the process is known as forced Convection.

If the matter flows on its own due to difference of pressure it is known as Natural or Free Convection.
