Solar Energy : The sun is the everlasting source of energy. The sun is enormous atomic reactor in which the hydrogen is constantly burning on a high temperature and pressure producing energy.

Only a small portion of energy transmitted by the sun, in the space, is received on the earth as the radiated energy. This energy is received in the form of Ultraviolet Light and Infra-red and Heat Radiation.

The most important ways of utilising the solar energy are —

  1. Converting the solar energy into heat energy and
  2. To convert the radiated solar energy directly into electric energy by photovoltaic change.

Solar energy is used in cooking, lighting, boiling water and drying crops etc.
